Cindy Morgan, the bubbly actress who charmed audiences in the cult classic “Caddyshack” and lit up the grid in “Tron,” has sadly passed away at 69. Her infectious smile and comedic timing graced a variety of films and TV shows, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and light.

Beyond the Bushwood Greens: While Morgan’s portrayal of Lacey Underall in “Caddyshack” remains her most recognizable role, her career spanned much further. Sci-fi enthusiasts will remember her as Lora in “Tron,” while others may recall her appearances in “Galaxis,” “Silent Fury,” and even an episode of “The Love Boat.” On television, she added glamour to the primetime soap opera “Falcon Crest.”

From College Radio to Hollywood Lights: Born Cynthia Ann Cichorski in Chicago, Morgan carved her own path. Breaking family tradition, she became the first to attend college, studying communications at Northern Illinois University. Her radio bug bit early, with stints at the university station and later as a DJ in Chicago. This led to car show hosting and, eventually, the leap to Los Angeles and the world of commercials. It was through this route that she landed the life-changing role in “Caddyshack.”

Timeless Comedy and an Improvised Gem: Despite not being an instant box office success, “Caddyshack” has become a timeless comedy gem. Morgan attributed its enduring appeal to the genuine fun on set: “We were surrounded by four of the funniest men on the planet: Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Ted Knight and Rodney Dangerfield. And we were struck by comedy lightning.” One of her favorite scenes, the impromptu “Sing me a love song” moment with Chase, wasn’t even scripted, showcasing her quick wit and ability to roll with the comedic punches.

Cindy Morgan’s journey from Midwestern student to Hollywood starlet is a testament to her drive and talent. Her infectious energy and comedic flair will continue to bring joy to audiences through her many memorable roles. Rest in peace, Lacey Underall. The pool party in the sky just got a whole lot funnier.
